My debut into mail chimp

For those who aren't aware (or didn't care) I run a little handmade market in Currumbin. I'm not out to turn it into finders keepers or anything similar - i'm happy keeping it small and being a nice group of people who enjoy crafting and making bits and bobs on the side of their already busy day to day lives.

The growth of this little market has been a natural progression and the next step that came was a monthly newsletter. I've tried to keep it mostly location neutral, so anyone in the world can get something out of it and enjoy reading it.  It's full of inspiring pictures, interesting facts, DIYs and the like.

For the first and last time, I am going to publish this newsletter on the blog - every month from now on, it can be delivered to your email inbox mid month. You can sign up for the newsletter here.

OUR NEXT MARKET IS: Saturday March 3, 2012.

Visit us for all the prettiest in handmade goodies on the gold coast.

Painting on Pencils

This is pretty clever and fantastic. A melbourne based artistGhostpatrol draws on every day pencils - turning something normal into something pretty incredible.

Fancy up your Keyboard

Have you been introduced to washi tape before? It's just the coolest thing around when it comes to craft products, nick nacks and stationary.

Found on this blog - a way to cover your keyboard with pretty bits of washi tape. Is it pretty or what!?

DIY...
This is simple, quick + easy. It can be done bright and out there or simple and understated.
STEP 1:
Paint a base coat. Let dry.
STEP 2:
Roughly paint dots on each nail
STEP 3:
Draw lines around dots with a liquid eyeliner.
Leave to dry, add a top coat + enjoy.

Mini Party Hats

These are just the cutest things around and the best toilet roll "art" I've seen.
Create little party hats just like these with glitter, wool + feathers.

They look like lots of fun + would be great for kids parties.

my little gift guide

i would like to share with you a gift guide i created the past couple of weeks for the handmade market i have.

this was an absolute labour of love and i hated it yesterday morning.
it's not perfect and more pixelated than i intended it on being, but i was determined to get it finished yesterday before i went to work. i was late, but the gift guide was published.

if you are in the area on saturday afternoon, please come down and check our little market out.

saturday + sunday. market days

this weekend was a combination of markets and relaxing.

sat:  had my market in the morning....we had a more people than usual which was great! the afternoon was spent at home chilling out and getting the plumber out to fix a leak in one of our pipes.

sun: husband and i hopped in the car bright and early and headed up to the finders keepers market. we started the morning with massive bratworst/kransky rolls and sugar cane juice and then browsed all the stalls. it was so lovely to be early and actually be able to move around freely and look at everything {usually it's cram packed and you have to shuffel along with everyone else}. this afternoon was spent relaxing, taking a bike ride down to the beachfront and having a drink and some food at the surf club. (dairy free) chocolate ice-cream is almost in my new ice-cream maker....so can't wait to munch on that!

how was your weekend??

surfers paradise festival

i usually avoid surfers like the plague....i stay far away most of the time, however after seeing that the suitcase rummage was on i was willing to venture up that way of the coast. this has been like an urban myth for me....something i've read lots about but never actually been to one. i was pretty excited!

so husband and i took the whole 20 minute drive and decided it was worth the drive. the atmosphere was kind of melbourney (which is VERY un-surfersy) with lots of stalls, suitcases, music and food in a little alley. i went snap happy as you can see...

so it's been awhile

Last weekend was a busy one (which is why i had no time for blogging or anything at home really!) but a lovely one.

On Saturday evening I had the pleasure of attending Hello Blogger Events Gold Coast meet and greet. We had teppanyaki for dinner beneath the Q1 in Surfers, then went upstairs where some of the girls had a room. Let me tell you the rooms in the Q1 are pretty fancy and all with amazing views. I took some photos but only on my phone and well they turned out pretty crap, so I'll send you over to organisers Dani from Danimezza and Dani from Hello Owl's blogs. The photos are much better  :)  So yes I had a lovely night meeting other bloggers in the area.

Then on Sunday I took my crafty bits and bobs to a market at Currumbin State School. I tried changing up my market stall and had a few new things to share. It was such a lovely day in the sun with lovely company in the forms of  Fi from Sister in Style, Amber from  Ella in the Skye and Miranda from Livoop. I sold nothing but got to sit in the sun all day!
