Pollydolly: artist

it's been so long since i've done a polly dolly post.

this week's theme was: artist

ARTIST

the first look is basic but i love those red velvet shorts. the stripey tee and yellow short combo with sparkly nike high tops. love those kicks! and then a pretty yellow shirt with colourful maxi and sweet flats. team all or any of these looks with a hat, aviators, house of harlow necklace, red lippy and a pretty bag.

something a bit alternative but still polished and pulled together for my artist look.

Polly Dolly:urban hippy

urban hippy

i love this set. so suited to me!

first look is one i'm busting to have right now!! a simple understated tee with floral midi skirt, chunky heels and a denim jacket.

second look is a slouchy jumper, denim jeans and pair of brogues.

third look is a black maxi, pretty top and a pair of sandals with a bowler hat.

the accesories i chose were a lovely pair of sunnies, 2 chunky rings that don't match, a cross necklace, a pretty bag to hang off my shoulder/sling across my body and of course a red lippy.

i love love love the urban hippy look and try to emulate it as often as i can.

Head on over to danimezza and see what everyone else's sets look like.

ugg boots

...is the theme for this weeks polly dolly via danimezza.

i'd team my uggies (thats what we call them in our family) with a pair of patterned tights and a top and beanie or with jeans, graphic jumper and scarf.

the accessories i'd team with them are nails in any of the above colours...or all three, a red lip gloss, bucket loads of mascara and diamond stud earrings.

now i seriously wish i could afford to go and get these uggs.
and well, both outfits to match!

puffer vests is the theme for this weeks polly dolly challenge. i don't wear puffer vests. never have and probably never will, but i don't mind the odd puffer jacket, so i've adapted this weeks challenge to suit me.

puffer jackets

i have gone with 2 puffer jackets.
same accessories in a neutral shoulder bag, pawpaw ointment for chapped lips (because it's cold) and lashings of mascara (because nothing looks better in the cold than  a pasty white face...because it's too cold to sit in the sun....pink cheeks being freezing cold and lots of mascara).

for the plaid jacket....little flat ankle boots and some simple skinny jeans and a pretty beanie.

for the grey jacket...yellow jeans to jazz up the grey, some cons and a red beanie to add another pop of colour.

i'd quite happily live in these outfits over winter.
anyone wanna buy the whole outfits for me? not even just the ksubi jeans (yellow) or the zara ankle boots?

love them both to bits!

hard at work

HARD AT WORK was this weeks polly dolly inspiration.......and it feels good to do this again! It's been ages.

I work in real estate now as a property manager (couldnt find a for rent sign on polyvore), so I have to dress a bit more workier than i'm used to. However I'm just not a corporate sort of person, so i'm always trying to jazz up my outfits a bit.

i wear the left outfit all the time. would love to be able to pull of the middle look and the look on the right is my dream outfit in summer.

now i am off to work (thought i'd pop this on while i'm waiting for husband).

have a great day.

missed out on last weeks polly dolly.

this week the theme is valentines day. it's a bit of a non event in our household. it's another one of those american commercial holidays. but it is fun sometimes! here's my set for a night out with husband...

valentines day
the first look is a look more appropriate for the gold coast where i live. pretty dress and pretty flats.
the middle look is something i'd love to wear. beautiful lace dress and red suede wedges.
the last look is not so cliche valentines day! a bright sunny yellow dress and tan wedges.
my accessories would be the cute as a button bag to stop everything being so romantic and serious, a slick of my fave red lippy (and it really is the one pictured!) and some pretty heart earrings.

oh i missed polly dolly.

anti fashionista

as you can see anti-fashionista was this weeks theme.

in reality....as it is summer and i live on the gold coast, i live in shorts, a singlet top and my havs. i use paw paw ointment for EVERYTHING and use a bag very similar to this one on a daily basis. i am loving a pair of heart earrings i got in the boxing day sales from target for $2.50 and i always wear my heart necklace...a wooden heart on a bit of leather. it's now my weekend wardrobe.

in dream land....i'd wear heels and sequins just to walk around town and the shops (just not appropriate in the places i go shopping!haha). i'd love a marc by marc jacobs bag just like this one. i'd wear red lipstick at all times, but i'd still wear my $2.50 target earrings. i love them that much!

so thats it until tomorrow when the next polly dolly challenge comes out.

keep rollin rollin rollin is the theme for this week.

while others who participated this week have gone down the roller skate, blade, skateboard and ice skating road, the only wheels i've got my eyes on are my brand new bike!
so this is the main feature of this set.

as i'm a pretty useless bike rider a basket on the front was absolutely necessary as i am unable to ride with a bag on.....even a satchel.
i've been busting to get some pretty streamers to hang out the handles (and a set of training wheels!) but my husband keeps telling me it will ruin the look of the bike. he has a point.

i would wear a pair of shorts and simple top with my havs for rides to the beach on a hot summers afternoon.
or for a jazzed up look a long black skirt with top and sandals.
simple......but not so simple to ride a bike in.
hmm, perhaps not so practical but i'd be styling!

i'd love to say i'm cool enough to just wear no helmet or a bowler hat, but i'm not and as i just mentioned i'm a crap  not a confident bike rider. so a helmet is next on my list of things to buy.

i love this spotty blue one. a normal bike helmet just wont cut it.
i ultimately love this one that zoey deschanel wore on yes, man....

and may still have a crack at recreating it, but i've seen a fairy princess one in the kids section of k-mart.
so basically a pink skater style helmet....and luckily i have a small head/kids heads are getting much bigger these days!

oh i love my bike.
go and check out the sets other bloggers have created.

jumpsuits is the theme for this weeks polly dolly challenge.

i've picked 3 jumpsuits.
a casual printed denim one, a floral and dressier one.
flats to go with them.
messenger bag. sunnies. funky arse necklace. (i'd really like it)

as dani said...how do you go to the toilet in them??
the worst part by far about jumpsuits.
it is a shorts and shirt in one, so really a whole outfit in one, but getting entirely undressed to go to the toilet isn't very convenient.

i do like them though.
i own a couple of jumpsuits. don't wear them that often, but my best one is one i got in the girls section at best and less. way cheaper than the ladies section and cuter too!!

asymmetrical is this weeks polly dolly theme.

i've gone for a ladylike look, a night time look and more casual look.

i've chosen mainly house of harlow jewellery to match my set.
loving the look of bralet's over a top at the moment.
very 90s i know, but i was too young to try that trend while it was around.
not sure if i can actually pull it off though!

gotsta get ready and choof off to school now.

finally getting to post this set. after doing it twice and then it not saving correctly, the 3rd time's a charm.
this set is slightly different to what i originally had down but some of the things had dissapeared this morning when i went to get them again.

this weeks theme was baby bump.

i've done what i think i would wear when i'm pregnant as i haven't been before.

long comfy maxi dress.
cute mustard dress (i really want this dress).
harem pants and comfy top.
flat shoes.

cloth nappies.
the most awesome marc by marc jacobs nappy bag.
i really want this when i'm having a bub.
some nice jewellery to tie it all together.

lace is the theme for this weeks polly dolly challenge.

this is my set.
3 lace options.
1 pair of lace shorts and 2 lace dresses.
the one in the middle is difficult to see on here now.
i'd butch the lace items up a bit with masculine feel shoes.
and punch some colour in with a bright bag and accessories.

i might wear some lace today now after doing this!
why not.

my bag. my style

over at danimezza's polly dolly challenge she has asked what bag we have been adoring and busting to have in our dreams. here is mine....

the bag is marc by marc jacobs.
it's in the $600 - $700 price range and i've been eyeing off a green one in david jones for a little while now.
i love it.
love the fact it can be turned into a satchel too.
the green is great (ánd it's a lovely pop of colour!), but i supoose for a rather expensive handbag the beigey colour would be more practical.

i've done a dressed up and more casual look for the bag to be teamed with.
doing this just makes me want the bag sooooo much.
i wonder if my husband wants to buy me it for my birthday???
hmmmmm.
think i have more chance of winning the lottery.

also really super dooper love the purple diamond top.
may have to just re-create that one!
also love the yellow heels :)

mellow yellow was last weeks polly dolly challenge.

i don't wear much yellow as it doesn't suit my skin tone, but i do like it occassionaly. here's my set:

couldn't find a dress i liked without copying dani's set, so chose 3 different looks.
look one: yellow hoodie brightens up winters dark days. wear with cons or other yellow shoes.
look two: cute as a button yellow shirt with denim shorties. worn with cons or other yellow shoes too.
look three: sailor skirt with quirky top. worn with pretty shoes to girlfy the look a  bit.

love the yellow watch and umbrella!

that's it for today.

lady in red is the theme for this weeks polly dolly challenge.

i've gone for the choice of 3 dresses (as i'm never happy with just one option!) with neutral accessories...

i've just realised i don't have any red clothes really.
i do wear red lippy on the regular occassion these days though.
there's something about wearing red that makes you feel super dressed up and sexy.

i chose 3 dresses all quite baggy with a relaxed fit.. .as most of the dresses looked too liz hurley-ish for my tastes!
i chose neutral coloured shoes
(all high heels....i don't know why i never wear heels...must be the red dress.
 it calls for killer heels)
(love the tanned ones and glittery ones, and the middle ones too actually!!)
a neutral clutch (alexander mcqueen) with a bit of character and funk.
a simple gold chain and chunky ring with a red lip completes my look.
hair should be soft and wavy. relaxed.

i found this hard to start off with.
i kept thinking, i don't know what dress...i'd never buy a red dress!
however, the more i look at this set, the more i want to go out tomorrow and buy a red dress.

camping was this weeks theme over at danimezza for the polly dolly challenge.

now i don't camp. well we don't camp. neither of us. i went to school camps and they have scarred me for life. the closest we've got to camping as a family is hopping in a britz van and road tripping it down to sydney. we stopped at caravan parks but tried very hard to find a park with available ensuite bathrooms and a cabin if possible. we were well and truly over it by the end of our massive 10 day trip there and back. haha. if i had my way and i had to camp, i've agreed to a 12 man tent for the 3 of us or alternatively one of the mercedes caravans. now i know i'm coming off as a bit of a princess, but i'm not (i don't think!), i just don't do camping. but if i did, this is what i'd wear...

now i realised after i'd published the set that i'd picked the same top as dani.
it clearly works for camping!
i lived in jumpers, shorts and tights on our roadtrip.
sunnies, hat and cons/boots are a must.
havaianas are also a must and very handy (although not in the set).
a camera for getting random shots when bored.
dry shampoo as you never was your hair as often as while at home.
my phone...for music, games and general entertaining. and facebook on the go.
sketchbook and pencil for getting down those bursts of inspiration or for playing games while bored.
i also realised i forgot a pack of cards.
cheap, small...hours of entertainment.

last weeks theme was:  maxi dress

i love maxi dresses.
i own quite a few in different styles.
love all three of these with any of the shoes to the side.
worn with a satchel type bag, hat and pretty necklace it is so simple yet chic and quirky.
love it!

the theme for this week is: metallics

metallics

i love sequined skits with an offbeat less dressy top.
worn with the pair of tan heels, chunky ring and natural shimmery makeup.
i love love love the top in the middle.
think i may just have to copy that one!

2 weeks of polly dolly in one.

last weeks was fashion week themed.

this weeks theme is retro.

i think retro and i think seventies. i'm a hippy at heart and mum and dad thought i shoulda been born then! i do however like the 50s styles too.
2 dress options. a pair of flares and cool tee. a pair of chunky (modern) tan platforms.
tanned satchel. classic watch. simple bangles.
gloves for the 2 dress options.

thats one thing i miss about those days.... i wish i had a polaroid that i could actually afford the film for!
never happened for me.

friday night drinks is this weeks polly dolly challenge.

one of the 3 dresses to be worn.
pair of killer heels
(but please take note this is only purely for drinks and sitting down. if dancing will be occuring then i highly suggest a pair of flat shoes if you plan on walking the next day/some very strong drinks so you can't feel your feet....if you're like me anyway)
one of the bags depending on your mood.
a pretty little floral necklace to show your feminine side.
a chunky ring to balance out the pretty necklace.
add a yummy sweet drink to the mix and it's friday night drinks.

i love the dress on the far left. it's roberto cavalli. i want it.
(wishing i was able to afford all the stuff on this set right now)
